At VEEN, we transcend traditional design boundaries. Our innovative journey is anchored in a variety of surrealist designs and RTW, where the ordinary transforms into the extraordinary. Beyond the aesthetics, our design philosophy is centered on fostering a profound connection to the voice against injustice and our culture. Fashion, as a powerful medium, can spark meaningful conversations, provoke thoughtful reflections, and serve as a catalyst for positive change. Our commitment extends beyond inspiration to deliver a unique blend of designs that not only challenge norms but also resonate with our clients, creating a shared narrative of purpose and impact. Fashion, to me, is an accessible language through which I convey a message, a narrative, or a response to the world around me.
ABOUT ME
My name is Veen Akrawi, and I am a Kurdish-American designer based in New York City. Born in Baltimore and raised in Northern Virginia, I am a first-generation American with deep roots in my Kurdish culture. Understanding the sacrifices my family made to build a new life in the U.S. has profoundly influenced my work. Every creation, every late night in the studio, and every detail in my designs is a tribute to their resilience and strength. I strive to infuse my cultural heritage into each collection, ensuring that even if it's not immediately visible in the garments themselves, it resonates in the essence of my work.
